Hong Kong, a guy named Chan Nai-min was convicted last October 24, 2005 of three charges of attempting to distribute three Hollywood films (Daredevil, Miss Congeniality, and Red Planet) using Bittorrent.

Sentencing was adjourned to November 7, while Chan is released on bail, it is possible to be sentenced a maximum of four year jail term.

This is good news for copyright owners at Honkong, but will this stop people from uploading and downloading files thru bittorrent?

On the same light, in America, the movie industry started targeting operators of Bittorrent networks last December 2004. They filed several lawsuits against Bittorrent server sites which hosts copyrighted materials links that helps bittorrent users swap contents. This resulted to several sites being forced to closed down.
