EXHIBIT FEATURING WORKS BY LOCAL FILIPINO ARTIST TO OPEN JUNE 9

“Engraven Upon the Hearts, A Celebration of Filipino Heritage," will be commemorated from June 9-July 15, 2007 at the Washington Temple Visitors’ Center in Kensington, Maryland. This unique exhibit highlights the work of Filipino American artist Rose Datoc Dall of Ashburn Virginia, who has created a series of intaglio, lithograph, collagraph, and mixed media prints that portray the character and story of Filipino members of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. Also featured is an original documentary movie by National Geographic film director, Ken Harris, with interviews of local Filipino Americans who share insights into significant events in the histories of their lives and their people.

Opening events include:
June 9, 4:00 - 6:00 pm - “Artist Opening Reception.” A guided tour with the artist.
June 10, 7:00-8:30 pm - “A Celebration of Filipino Heritage” with a viewing of the documentary, special musical presentation by a children’s choir, and keynote speaker Zaldy Sabino.

This exhibit and all events are free of charge and the public is cordially invited. The Visitors’ Center is open from 10:00 am to 9:00 pm daily, and is located at 9900 Stoneybrook Drive, Kensington, MD 20895. For further information and directions, call 301-587-0144.
