Technology EntrepreneurshipDo you know any Philippine companies that are popular in the field of technology? In our neighboring countries, Singapore has its Creative Technologies; Taiwan has its TSMC; India has Infosys; and China has Lenovo and Huawei Technologies.

I read an article about Technology Entrepreneurship from one of the online media from the Philippines and it struck me. I don't know any leading Philippine company in the field of technology. There's no doubt filipinos are one of the best in the field of technology. And we can find them all across the United States and Europe. So why we don't have any leading technology company?

I believe a lot of filipinos are innovators. And I also believe that there are a number of filipino and even foreign capitalist who want to venture on filipino innovations. The only problem is awareness. The entrepreneurs think there are no fundings and the capitalists think there are no good ideas. What I think is, there is just very little interaction among these groups that occurs.

This is one of the reasons why PinoyProfessionals.com community portal was launched. To bring all filipinos together. To share ideas with the community that will allow fast development and success. Fellow entrepreneurs can share ideas thourgh an article. The forum can also be used for interaction with capitalist.

If you are an entrepreneur or a capitalist, tell your fellows about this community portal. And let's help this community grow.

well I think we do have Technology Entrepreneurs in Manila.. it's just that when multinational companies offer to buy their companies, they sellout.

you can't really blame these local technology entrepreneurs selling out once an offer comes in. most of these founders know how volatile the technology market is and would want to cash out when the opportunity arises. it would be nice though if they re-invest back to the same market or at least in a new or different sector.

Nature or Nurture? : Guest
I agree with you. There are so many "world-class" Filipino IT professionals scattered all over the world. Unfortunately, most are employed with multinational or international companies not local ones.

This is a direct product of how we were brought up. From a very early age, we have been conditioned that we should find employment as opposed to setting up our own business.

images/grin.gifon't you think it's high time to stop this vicious cycle and draw the line? The most sustainable path to economic freedom is owning a business (IT or otherwise).

We at the Philippine Entrepreneurs Livelihood Center are dedicated to helping Entrepreneural Filipinos help themselves.
