Voice Engineer

Responsibilities

Background

Via IP is a Telecommunications provider with a growing Managed Service offering to complement our global customer base.

We are seeking experienced Managed Service Engineers for our team who have a minimum of 2 years’ experience in VOIP service delivery, as well as experience with Broadsoft and Avaya IP Office systems. Subsequently the candidate will also have experience with video conferencing systems.

Position requirements

Via IP are looking for motivated individuals to maintain and drive continuous improvement of the managed services offering.

The position holder will be well organised and be able to work in a small, highly skilled team. They must have excellent time management skills and the ability to prioritise tasks based on impact. They will have excellent English communication skills both written and verbal.

Minimum Current Certifications to be held

• Broadsoft
• SIP certifications
• Avaya

Short term Certification to be obtained

• Polycomm VSOS100
• Polycomm VSOT200

Certifications which will be favourably looked upon

• Cisco Certified Voice (CCNA & CCNP Voice)

Requirements

Skills and experience

The position holder will have an excellent broad knowledge of Telecommunications and IT and be familiar with ITIL best practices and a minimum experience of 5 years in Telecommunications & Networks.

Mandatory Skills are:

• Avaya IP Office IP phone system support
• Configuration and deployment if SIP based ATA
• CDR and Billing
• SIP Based Radius Integration
• WAN and LAN static and basic Routing using Cisco Systems
• Understanding and experience with QOS configuration
• Integration with HALO our online NMS
• Integration with BSS and OSS systems
• High level of Radius experience and support
• High level of DNS, SMTP and NAT skills
• H323, G7XX Codec understanding
• Layer 2, VLANs Switching, DHCP customisations

Optional (Highly desired) skills include:

• Linux or Unix systems experience
• Fortinet experience, Fortigate, Fortimail and Fortianyliser
• VMWARE ESXi server
• Microsoft Server Platform (Used to host Voice Management Applications)

General High Level Day to Day Tasks

• Incoming email, web and call job response
• Voice Conferencing and point implementation, support and troubleshooting
• Monitoring and proactive response to voice related issues
• Field Service dispatching
• QOS Support, troubleshooting and configuration
• Automation development
• Avaya IP Office configuration and user support or IP Voice systems’
• Event management
• Periodic upgrades and patch management
• Documenting customer solutions and changes

Communication

This role will at times be client facing and will require communication (Email, Video and Voice) with end users, so it is important this person is well versed in English

Work hours

This role will require rotating shifts that cover 6am – 10pm Sunday-Sunday, Sydney, Australia time.
