Instructional Design Writer

The Instructional Design writer is responsible for creating all types of learning materials using various learning modes necessary to support the training needs of teams within the WPS group.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Review current training curriculum and assessment tools
• Determine learning needs by performing needs / task analysis
• Communicate with subject matter experts to obtain necessary information for developing training programs and learning materials
• Conduct surveys and focus groups among company stakeholders
• Recommend appropriate learning solutions in all delivery formats (face-to-face, e-learning, print)
• Write learning competencies and learning objectives for corporate training programs and e-learning programs
• Create effective training programs and materials for corporate training environments and/or e-learning delivery formats (including training plans, facilitator guides, instructional media elements, storyboards, e-learning content, visual aids, presentation materials, job aids)

• Gather feedback through assessment measures and evaluation forms

TECHNICAL SKILLS/QUALIFICATIONS

• Graduate of Education / Educational Technology /  Instructional Systems Design related courses
• Solid understanding of adult learning theory and instructional design principles in managing the development of training programs, facilitator guides, presentation materials, e-learning content, and instructional media elements.
• In-depth understanding of learning styles, training strategies, instructional systems design methodologies, digital content authoring, and e-learning modes of delivery (i.e. computer based learning, web-based learning, mobile learning)
• Knowledge of course authoring tools and blended learning / e-learning best practices

KNOWLEDGE OF TOOLS

Excellent Microsoft Office skills

• Excellent English communication and writing skills
• Comfortable with learning new technologies and content
• Comfortable working in the night shift

DESIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES:

Knowledge, skills or abilities that are not a requirement, but are highly desired to perform the function, should be identified as such. 

• Teaching experience, e-learning experience, course authoring, educational research, project management
• Experience  with course authoring tools (e.g. Adobe Captivate, Flash, Director, Authorware, Articulate, or Camtasia)
• Experience with photo-editing, audio-editing, video-editing tools (e.g. Adobe Studio)
• Familiar with learning management systems or blended learning technologies (e.g Skillsoft, Blackboard, Moodle)
